The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has plans to construct a Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant as part of its goal to diversify Dubai’s energy mix through its Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy. The aim is to reach an energy mix of 71% natural gas, 12% nuclear, 12% clean coal, and 5% solar by the year 2030. The Solar Power Plant Project will bring the emirate one step closer to this goal.
In order to move the project along, Dewa recently awarded a contract to an international consulting group to provide Independent Power Producer (IPP) Advisory Services. These services may involve reviewing established legislation, IPP tender preparation, evaluation, negotiation, and finalization. Completion of the Solar Plant Project is expected in 2017.
