Richard Cline, Director
What do you do at Absolute Consulting?
As Director, Business Development, I am responsible for all aspects of developing and supporting new and current clients in my region as well supporting work, company-wide, in my specialty area: Major Project Support.
What is your background?
Engineering & Diplomatic History at USNA, Archeology & English Literature at University of Wales. Various certifications related to nuclear industry. Two-time winner of National Safety Award (Association of Maintenance Contractors)
What is something you have been or are currently involved with that most people would not know?
I was a technical Advisor in southern Iraq. It was the most rewarding job I’ve ever done. I saw farmers get two crops harvested in one season where the previous year they had none.
List/describe the person/people you admire the most:
The under-paid, over-worked and under-appreciated US volunteer military service personnel (for reasons too numerous to mention here).
What trait did you inherit from your mom or dad?
Sense of honor, fair play and “never say die” attitude.
If you could go back to school, what would you study? Why?
Religious Philosophy. If religion is the major cause of wars, then understanding the beliefs of others might help understand the different points of view.
What is your favorite place to travel and why?
I’m within 50 miles of some of the greatest beaches in the world—I love the beach and the water, so why travel? But my favorite outside USA would have to be China—the sense of antiquity and history is everywhere. I love all their bronze statues and tools, but mostly the people.
What was the first concert you attended? When?
Paul Revere and the Raiders. 1968. “Little” Tanya Tucker was the opening act—she was 9 or 10.
